Loving the skin you’re in

Each and every one of us are blessed with the fact that we are unique. We look different, we sound different, we experience things differently and we think differently. What one person loves, another may hate and vice versa. These differences help to make us all interesting and help to make the world an exciting place. I’ve always thought that if everyone was the same, then life would be pretty dull and boring.

I also get that you may see your own differences too. Too this, or too that, or maybe not enough of something, we have all felt that way at some point. But let me reassure you, my role as your luxury boudoir photographer is to put you at ease, focus on the areas that you do love, and guide you into positions that will have you seeing what a sex kitten you truly are.

You may be reading this thinking okay Sarah; this is all easy for you to say but I have an issue that isn’t so easy to disguise or come to love. I hear you girl, but I’ve got you, you are in safe hands. Perhaps you have a condition that effects the look or feel of your skin and perhaps you have struggled with loving those parts of yourself. Maybe you have even suffered from bullying in the past as a result of looking different. I understand that this can hold you back and make you want to hide away but honestly, I encourage you to step forward and to show yourself some love. My studios a safe environment where we can celebrate your uniqueness.

How does it all work?

My boudoir photography shoots are like attending a pamper session or a fun girls night in. As soon as you take the plunge and contact me to make your booking we will start to plan your perfect day. From hair and makeup, to what clothes to wear, right through to the poses you will do. We will plan it all together. Best of all, on the actual day of your shoot I’ll take over and do all of the directing, you will have your hair and makeup professionally done and then we will get down to work.

How does this help if you have a condition that effects the way your skin looks? Well, first of all did you notice I said you will have your hair and makeup professionally done? Yep, you read that right and it is included in your boudoir shoot for no extra cost. That means that if you have a condition that is effecting your face and you would rather that we minimise it, then we can use the full experience of my professional makeup artist, Jemma Swinfield to do exactly that. If you’re concerned at all that her makeup won’t be suitable on your skin due to adverse reactions or sensitivities, then you are welcome to bring your own along and Jemma will still apply it for you. I want you to feel as comfortable as possible and if the right makeup is key to that then let’s get it done.

My body doesn’t look like yours…

Still not convinced? Maybe you have a condition that extends beyond your face, perhaps your arms, legs or torso are affected, and you would rather not have those areas on full show, that’s ok. We can either choose outfits that help you to feel comfortable in front of the camera or we can utilise effects, poses, and editing skills that I would normally use in my anonymous boudoir photos. I have to say that gorgeous silhouette photos really get my blood pumping with excitement. Is there anything more sexy than a gorgeous woman silhouetted against a window or up against a wall…

Show your true self

You may be booking your luxury boudoir photo shoot just for you and no one else, maybe you already know that your photos will remain private and for your eyes only and that is ok. 10 boudoir lingerie brands for a fuller bust

Were you blessed with melons? Ok, yes, I know that is not the most political way to talk about those ladies who have a larger bust and it might not be your word of choice to describe your boobs but let’s keep things fun and light-hearted for a minute. There are lots of different words used to describe the female bust, from melons, to jugs, to bazookas, to pillows, to jubblies, and so many more. Being endowed with large breasts can be a blessing and a curse, and like so many other things in life we often end up wanting the opposite to what we actually have. Remember though your body is gorgeous and unique, regardless of the size of your bosom.

A larger bust can actually be a challenge, and not just because it can cause backache, but also because it can sometimes be difficult to find good fitting, supportive, and sexy underwear. It can quite often feel like one of those things has to be sacrificed and it’s often the feel-good sexy element that is lost in favour of comfort and support. When it comes to your boudoir photoshoot though we want to capture the sexy. We want that goddess inside of you to be released. You want to not only look sexy but also feel sexy and although a lot of that will come from being relaxed, enjoying yourself and seeing just how damn hot you really are, some of it also comes form the clothes and the lingerie that you are wearing.

Are you holding yourself back?

It might be that right now you are holding back from planning a boudoir photoshoot all because you are worried about having nothing to wear, or at least nothing that you think is suitable for a boudoir shoot. That can be a paralysing feeling, like having a fancy ball to go to and no ball gown to wear or starting a new job and not knowing what the dress code is. Firstly, I have an incredible client wardrobe that you are welcome to borrow on the day of your shoot, I have lots of beautiful pieces that I have collected over the years and I have a range of sizes, so I’m confident that there will be something there that is perfect for you.

Great places to buy…

Thirdly, I have plenty of experience of shopping for beautiful lingerie and there are some great places, both online and on the high street, where you can find stunning pieces that are perfect for a bigger bust.

Leicester-based fuller-bust lingerie brand Tutti Rouge have created edgy and sexy underwear specifically aimed at the 30-48 / D-G size range, with some options on the website offering up to a J cup. They also offer accompanying knickers in sizes XS – 6XL.

As well as offering luxury lingerie for the fuller bust, Harlow and Fox also offer a bespoke, custom lingerie service for those whose measurements sit outside of their ready to wear size range.

Shein have a great Curve and Plus Size range of lingerie and they are incredibly cost effective too!

Amazon is also a great, but possibly surprising source, of lingerie. You can spend as long as you like browsing online before you make your purchase. They have an amazing range of body chains too for something a little unique.

For glamorous 40’s and 50’s inspired lingerie and fashion, Kiss Me Deadly is a great little gem. Inspired by the darker side of retro styling. Think more femme fatale! They’ve also got super information about sizing and fitting, but it’s the last line of their sizing information that I love; ‘But ultimately, wear what you like – there’s no evidence that anything dreadful will happen if you get your bra size “wrong”, and they’re not compulsory!’ Isn’t that brilliant?!

Ann Summers offer both in person and online shopping and always have a brilliant range of outfits and lingerie.

Bravissimo are seen by many as being todays leading high street lingerie retailer for the bigger busted woman and they offer a full range of styles, plus in store sizing so you can get the extra support of ensuing you have the correct fit. There is also the benefit of being able to shop online if that is your preference.

Freya Lingerie is great for fuller figure swimwear, lingerie and sportswear. What I love about their bikini range is that they do mix and match elements, so you can choose the perfect style for your curves. As well as beautiful everyday lingerie they’ve got super instructional videos about finding the right fit for you.

Curvy Kate have the biggest selection of D+ bras, with a wonderful range in back sizes too. Those with small back sizes and large cups, rejoice!

Panache are globally successful lingerie designers and manufacturers who boast almost 30 years’ experience and have won numerous awards for their sportswear range too.

So don’t hold back based on being a little bit busty, instead embrace that and use it as the perfect excuse to refresh that lingerie draw with a few new items.

Finally, my last tip for if you are investing in some new items; size up if needed. We don’t want anything that is slightly too tight and causing marks or bulges, so instead go up a size. No one will know what size the lingerie is that you are wearing, you want to feel comfortable and sexy on the day of your shoot.

Two Birds, One Stone

Kill two birds, with one stone. I’m sure you have heard the saying before, but what does it mean? It’s about making the best of an opportunity; it’s about not letting things go to waste and it’s about thinking outside the box so that you can get more, without it costing more. It’s about solving more than one problem at a time, performing an activity that gives you multiple rewards and benefits.

But how can you apply that to your Boudoir shoot? How can you benefit in more than one way?

Simple, turn your boudoir shoot into your date night. No, I’m not talking about something kinky and bringing your partner along to the shoot, although I have done couples shoots in the past. What I am talking about is ending the day of your boudoir shoot with date night with your significant other. Trust me, you won’t regret it.

Why turn it into date night?

Think about it, it’s absolutely perfect. You have had your hair and makeup professionally done by my incredible makeup and hair artist, Jemma Swinfield, you have had a huge confidence boost, you have spent the day smiling and having a great time. You have most likely seen yourself and your body in a new light and have fallen in love with it, and yourself, in a way like never before. You have finally seen what your partner sees; you are a GODDESS.

The prep work is already done.

I know from my past clients, and from my own recommendations, that on the run up to your boudoir shoot you will have been taking extra special care of yourself. You have most likely done all those things that you would normally put off. I’ll bet this sounds familiar, usually there is no time or money for things like getting your legs waxed, your eyebrows tidied, or your nails done, but your boudoir shoot will change that. You want to look and feel your best, so you find the time, and the cash.

The run up to your shoot is almost like a mini pamper session spread over a few days. You eat well and drink plenty of water, you look after your skin so it looks fresh and beautiful, you might book in for manicure or pedicure (why not both), and you take care of any unwanted hair – legs, eyebrows, bikini line – you name it.

With all that done and with a fantastic mood-boosting and confidence-boosting experience under your belt, why let the day end?

Let me set the scene.

You will probably arrive for your shoot feeling a little nervous, but also excited. You might not be 100% sure what to expect or how you will get on throughout the day, but you know it’s an experience that you want to have. Getting your hair and makeup done, browsing through your outfits, and talking about what we will do first will help you to relax a little. Those first few poses will still feel a little awkward, you might be a little shy and have all sorts of things running through your mind; like what if you look as good as everyone else? Or what if that awful spot is visible and ruins everything? And what on earth should you do with your arms? Arms are so damn awkward in photos!

But then you start to relax and actually have some fun, you start to really enjoy the process and we come up with incredible poses and looks that you totally smash. By the time we get to the end of the shoot phase you are on cloud nine. You are laughing and smiling, and you’ve even forgotten that you are walking around practically naked, that is how comfortable you now are.

By the end of the shoot, you are feeling amazing, but the best bit is yet to come. After a quick break we get back down to work. This time though we are reviewing your incredible photos together. Those nerves have probably kicked back in at this stage, you are nervous about what you might see, being in front of the camera isn’t always something you love.

That first photo though – WOW. All those fears and worries are gone. You look INCREDIBLE and you feel even better. That confidence we built during the shoot returns but ten-fold now. You look HOT, how have you never realised that before? Looking through the photos ignites a fire in you, you feel a little giddy from the whole experience and you don’t want it to end.

Carry the passion forward.

Why waste those feelings? Why just return home and go about your normal evening routine? No. Now is the time to really take advantage of how you feel, show off that new-found self-love and self-confidence, show your partner that a goddess has emerged (and she is feeling frisky).

Investing in Yourself

If you have found this post, the chances are that you’ve either booked your Luxury Boudoir Experience or you’re about to get it locked in. Either way, I can’t wait to get you into the studio and sing praises about how bomb you are. I’m going to lay out the basics for you here about investing in yourself. Let me preface this by saying YOU ARE WORTH IT!

You are not just getting pictures. Whew, I’m glad that is out of the way. Although it may be one of the bigger reasons why you booked this experience, it’s not the only thing you’re getting. Booking a session with Sarah Rachel Boudoir is just that, an experience. You are spending the whole day being reminded how fierce and powerful you are and there is no price tag on that. This could be the first time in a long time that you put yourself first, and girl, you deserve that.

Your day will begin being pampered by one of my amazing resident Hair and Makeup Artists. They truly have an eye to get you from everyday to slay! After that we’ll pick out your favourite outfits that perfectly compliment your curves. I will always give my input about what looks amazing on you and girl you know i’ve got that bodysuit obsession that you are more than welcome to browse through!

By this point you’re looking and feeling like a Victoria’s Secret Model! The shoot itself is about 90 minutes of me yelling about how amazing you are. I seriously end up so excited about how bomb you are that I end up yelling but I mean every single word! You are a phenomenal human being, you deserve this and your butt looks fabulous.

You’re investing in you. In how you feel about yourself and you truly cannot put a price tag on the way your confidence sky rockets when you step foot outside of my studio. I offer a wide range of luxury, hand picked products that I personally love and clients usually invest £1800-3500 on their experience. I offer payment plan options for you as well as the option to PRE PAY for your products so you don’t have to worry about anything other than showing up and getting your products even sooner!

So now that we know about the investment part, here are some tips and tricks to help save for your session! These small adjustments can really help you bring home EVERYTHING you want without the heartbreak of leaving products and images you love behind.

Plan ahead! Bear in mind my sessions are usually booked out 3-6 months in advance, but you can turn this into your advantage and schedule a date in the future and set up a Pre-Session Payment Plan. This is basically where we set up a weekly, fortnightly or monthly payment plan leading up to your shoot based on which Collection you think you may be interested in purchasing. This option is great because you can take your time paying it off and then on the day of your shoot, you don’t have to worry about such a large expense all at once! You can enjoy the experience and you can always upgrade if you end up loving more images!

Figure out your budget. You wouldn’t believe how many unnecessary things we pay for until you sit down and actually look at it! Try eating or going out only once a month and order water whenever you can (heellllloooo, it’s freeeee!), scale back on those coffee trips or cut out a monthly expenses that you don’t find yourself using on a daily basis. Use those savings and put them in your boudoir account!

Set aside money whenever you can! This can be in numerous forms. You can create a separate bank account that automatically transfers over £20, £30 or £40 a week into the account (that will add up FAST) or your own “boudie bank” in the form of a jar or box where you throw in all of your spare change and even extra notes! *Pro tip* Add any £5 or £10 note you get into it. Seems small now, but it WILL add up!

24 hours can make or break a decision. If you’re shopping around, especially online, leave items in your basket for 24 hours. When you come back to it the next day, you’ll probably realise that you don’t need or even want it anymore and it helps scale back impulsive and unnecessary purchasing! Sometimes they’ll even offer you an extra discount too.

Get rid of the tempting email spam! Boohoo is having another 30% off sale and you just want to sneak a little peek….stop right there! Any boudoir shoot should be a magical experience, one that leaves you feeling sexy, empowered, and beautiful; but the gift of a bridal boudoir shoot takes that to a whole new level. It is my role, and my absolute pleasure, to give you this magical and transformative experience. I understand how women work, I know what hang-ups you might have, I know why you might be feeling nervous or that your body isn’t good enough for this; I know because I have felt that way myself. So, take comfort in the fact that I am here to guide and support you every step of the way.

On the run up to your wedding it is highly likely that you are taking extra special care of yourself. You’re already eating well and drinking plenty of water to combat the chances of bad skin or bloating on the day. It is likely that you have purchased a whole heap of new outfits, not only your wedding dress, but lingerie, shoes, bags, clothes for the honeymoon, maybe even some sexy new numbers to delight your soon to be husband with. You probably have all sorts of pampering sessions booked as well in order to look and feel your best for that special day.

Before we get started with the camera we’re going to have a really frank discussion about which parts of your body you love and which you aren’t so keen on, I’m then going to help you with poses that will showcase all of those areas that you want to highlight and show off.

We’ll take it slow to begin with and work with poses that suit the natural beauty of your body and as you relax, we can get a little more adventurous.

Before the day of the shoot, we can talk about what to bring along, how to pick great outfits and jewellery, and the kind of ‘look’ that you want to create. Some basics to bring along for your Bridal Boudoir shoot include:

Your veil
Your wedding night lingerie
Your garter, if you have one.
Some high heels – the higher the better (don’t worry, you won’t be doing much walking in them).
Stockings.
Any jewellery you have and want to include.

We can talk about what to bring in more detail at our pre-shoot consultation; you want to have a few options with you, but I also don’t want you to feel overwhelmed by it all. Remember this is a magical experience and I want you to enjoy it.

Who is this a gift for?

Most women initially come to me for a Bridal Boudoir shoot because they want to create something stunning for their husbands to be. But usually by the time the shoot is over, and they leave, they have realised it is the best gift they could have ever given THEMSELVES. WHY I LOVE IT: Ok, so I could talk about this all day. I loveeeeeee albums. Designing an album together with my clients is one of my favourite parts of the whole experience!

Choosing an album to preserve your images is the PERFECT way to make your session more than a simple photoshoot or collage of random cute images; it’s an opportunity to tell YOUR sexy story. Putting your images together in a book forces us to put images in a particular order (unlike the folio boxes) and in intentional layouts. Because of that, the viewer is immersed into all the sensual details of your session. While using album design software together at the studio at your Image Reveal and Ordering Appointment, you may consider images that help tell that story that you otherwise probably wouldn’t include in a collection of loose prints.

I love to imagine not only the reactions of my client’s significant others seeing their amazing album, but also my clients 30 years from now, looking back through their albums in awe of themselves and thankful they chose to preserve that version of themselves for a lifetime. Albums are heirloom quality meant to last a lifetime.

Tips for at Home Self-Care and Self-Love

So apparently self-care and self-love are all the rage right now, they have become the current buzz words, but I’ve known for a long time that they should be high on the priority list for each and every one of us. I also know that time and cost can feel like obstacles that we cannot overcome and so we focus our energy in other areas of life, work life, home life, family life etc, and we neglect ourselves.

But what if self-love and self-care could be things that we don’t have to invest lots of money in? What if they were things that didn’t need to take up hours of our time? Could we then find ways to focus on ourselves? After all, as the saying goes, ‘you can’t pour from an empty cup.’ So rather than trying to do everything, and be everything for everyone else, try to find ways in which you can be the priority for a change.

What are self-love and self-care?

Well, firstly they are not mutually exclusive, but neither are they tied together, it is very possible that you have/do one more than the other as they also aren’t the same thing. Usually though, if you can work on one then the other will follow along and improve as well. Your definition of these things may vary a little to mine but I’m sure there will be some cross over.

Self-Love – now in my book this is not about loving every inch of your skin every second of the day. Instead, it is about having respect for your body and an appreciation of all the incredible things that your body does. Over time you may increase your levels of self-love and this could be due to a number of reasons but there may always be certain parts of yourself that you don’t fully love and that is ok. My boudoir photography shoots are designed to help increase your self-love and self-appreciation as you see yourself in a completely different light – metaphorically speaking.

Self-Care – this is where you can really have some fun, you can focus on yourself and do things that are entirely just for you. Women often think that self-care is selfish, we can get stuck in this pattern where we have to put everyone else first, it’s in our nature as caring beings. I’m not telling you to stop looking out for others, or to stop taking care of your family, or to ignore requests for help, but maybe it is time to start listening to your own requests for help and support. Your physical and mental health both require your attention. Self-care can be the smallest of things, like closing your eyes as you stand in the garden listening to birdsong, or it can be the big things, like a weekend away with the girls or a day at the spa. It just has to be something that is for you and puts that smile back on your face.

5 Tips for Increasing your Self-Love

Stop comparing yourself to other people! You are unique and you should celebrate this. How another person looks has no bearing at all on your self-worth and your value.
Stop comparing yourself to a previous version of yourself. 18-year-old you may have had a set of super perky boobs and they may have travelled south a little since then but that does not make you any less beautiful.
Practice gratitude – rather than letting negative thoughts rule your mind think about all the incredible things your body does. Has it been a safe home for your children? Have you run a 10km race or trained for a marathon? Do you wake up healthy each day? Do you have an incredible laugh that caught the attention of the love of your life? I think you get the gist of what I’m saying here.
Use affirmations to help you reinforce all the positive things you want to feel about yourself. Here are just a few examples:

1. I am beautiful
2. I am worthy
3. I am smart and capable
4. I am kind and compassionate
5. I am in control of my destiny

Buy a set of matching underwear that makes you feel incredible and invincible when you put it on – this is your power set. No one else knows you are wearing it but when you do you could rule the world.

5 Tips for Self-Care you can do at Home

Run a bubble bath, light some candles, and grab a book. Then shut the door and enjoy some much-needed time to yourself to relax. Maybe add a glass of wine or cup of tea, and how about some rose petals in the water.
Download an app to your phone for meditation and spend 5 minutes in the morning and evening listening to it. Allow your mind to clear, forget all those lists of endless tasks you need to complete, and just breathe.
Stand outside in nature and close your eyes as you listen to all the sounds around you. Can you hear birdsong? Focus just on that and its beauty. Or is the wind rustling the leaves on nearby trees? Listen to how nature is creating music. Slow down, listen, and breathe.
Give yourself a little pamper. Get a face mask on, treat your hair to a deep condition, file and polish your nails, dig out that foot spa, and put on your favourite movie.
Do something that makes you smile! Turn the music up and dance around the living room, do a jigsaw puzzle, restart an old hobby, reconnect with old friends and have a long catch up.

Anonymous Boudoir Photos

Have you always wanted to do a boudoir shoot, but have concerns about being recognised in your photos? Sit down and get comfy, because today’s topic is all about anonymous boudoir photos. I’m here to help you fulfil your boudoir dreams whilst working around your concerns!

First and foremost, let’s talk about CONSENT. Whoever you choose to share your boudoir images with, be that with the world, a significant other, a lover, or just for your eyes only, it’s important to me that you have full control over your images and if/when they are shared. My default consent status setting for all boudoir shoots is ‘private’ unless you specifically give consent in writing for me to share them. Equally, I will always respect your decision to keep your images private – I’ve done a few boudoir shoots myself that don’t exist on the internet, so I completely get it!

That said, maybe you’re sat there right now thinking about the thrill of having some sensual boudoir images and showing the world how fabulous your body looks, but don’t want anyone else to be able to tell it’s you. Perhaps you have a career that requires confidentiality, or personal circumstances that require some anonymity online. Maybe you just want your smoking hot body to be the focus of the image so you can slide into your lover’s inbox on a random Tuesday afternoon and spice up their day! Whatever your requirements, I’m happy to cater to them; and this blog post is full of example anonymous boudoir images I’ve shot over the past few years that could be the inspiration for our next shoot together.

MY FAVOURITE ANONYMOUS BOUDOIR PHOTOS

The great thing about anonymous boudoir photos is that you can dare to bare as much or as little as you like, like in this image. You can use your hair or hands to hide your face. It works particularly well for showing off toned backs and killer butts too! I’ve popped another example of a similar shot below too.

We can also try shooting from different angles; just look at how incredible her toned legs look here? Playing with natural light to highlight the definition of her muscles. Legs for absolute days!

I can also use my skills as a photographer to play with light and shadows, creating artistic silhouettes to flaunt your greatest assets whilst protecting your identity. This image is another one of my favourites –

If you’re a detail lover, we could even get in closer and focus on specific areas, such as the curve of your hips, the silhouette of your breasts, or your legs and feet in heels and stockings. I can also crop any images in the retouching stage to only show below your jawline, for a hint of tease. They won’t be able to see who the subject is, but you’ll know it’s you!

So, as you can see, there are plenty of ways we can shoot anonymous boudoir photos together – and don’t forget, if you’d prefer to keep them for your eyes only, they can be our little secret!
