International Women’s Day 2023

It’s almost time for International Women’s Day 2023! It’s a day to celebrate the amazing accomplishments of women throughout history and to continue pushing for gender equality. And what better way to celebrate than with a little bit of self-love? That’s right, ladies, it’s time to treat yourself to a boudoir experience and revel in your own beauty and strength.

For those of you who are new to the concept, a boudoir experience is essentially a photo shoot that focuses on capturing your inner goddess. You’ll work with a professional photographer who will help you choose outfits and poses that make you feel sexy and confident. The end result is a collection of stunning photos that celebrate your unique beauty and femininity.

Now, some of you might be thinking, “But I’m not a model, I don’t look like those women in the magazines.” Let me stop you right there. The beauty of a boudoir experience is that it’s all about YOU. New Inclusive Boudoir Lingerie Collection by Tu

Sainsbury’s clothing brand Tu has unveiled a new collection of size-inclusive lingerie inspired by 1920s and 1930s Parisian boudoirs and I am totally here for it!

This is going to have a huge impact on my clients as a boudoir photographer. I know firsthand how difficult some of my ladies find sourcing lingerie that is catered to their size but that also is more decorative and this movement is going to really elevate so many women’s confidence! I’m excited!

The whole collection is modelled by TV presenter, DJ and Tu brand ambassador Ashley James. The collection features 20 products in UK clothing sizes 6-24 and bra sizes 32A–42GG.

This is a huge range of sizing and comes from Tu’s pledge to make 80% of its lingerie offerings available in size DD+ by the end of 2023, making affordable lingerie more accessible to all women.

Tu Clothing director, Emma Benjafield has said that they want to ensure their lingerie offerings are suited to a more inclusive range of sizes. They have acknowledged that the average bra size has increased in recent years and want to make sure women can feel comfortable and empowered in the lingerie that they are wearing which, as a boudoir photographer, I am totally here for.

The Boudoir collection features shades of scarlet, mint and nude matching bra and knickers sets with lace fabrications, lurex details and metal work trims, while maintaining a comfortable fit thanks to underwiring and thicker bra straps.

The collection is available to purchase at Tu.co.uk and in selected Sainsbury’s stores and with the range being priced from £8 for knickers, £17 for bras and £25 for a matching bra-and-knickers set they are going to be a staple of many lingerie drawers across the nation.

Everyone should be able to wear sexy and empowering lingerie, and that doesn’t need to change just because you’re a DD+. This new range offers women with larger boob sizes the chance to combine comfort with sexiness!

My own blue bodysuit. The colour was incredible and just hugged me in all the right places. Definitely made me feel sexy.

Absolutely out of this world.

The chance to get glammed up and dress sexy just for myself. The whole session made me feel incredible.

Nervous but so excited.

I am more accepting of my body as after having a baby it changes massively. I’m proud of how I look and learning to embrace it.

I had spoken to ‘Miss M’ a couple of times before she jumped in and booked her Leicester Boudoir Photoshoot with me, and whew, what a woman! I was searching for a boudoir specialist in my area and Google lead me to your website where I also found out about the Facebook group.

What inspired you to book a Boudoir Shoot?

I wanted to rediscover my feminine powers, a boudoir photoshoot is a very empowering way to get in touch with your confidence.

Tell us about one of the outfits you wore for your photography session – why do you love it?

One of my choices was a sexy black see-through lingerie with suspenders, black lacy gloves and pearl accessories that tied it all together.

Describe your Boudoir Shoot experience

At first it felt very nerve-wrecking. It’s a new experience, either the photoshoot situation or specifically a boudoir session, most of us are inexperienced or don’t know how to pose. As soon as I walked through the door I was welcomed by Sarah with a lovely smile and a pair of personalized slippers (which I got to keep!). The nerves quickly fade away when she shows you the room where the magic happens, the client wardrobe and also the makeup and hair station. Once I got dolled up and changed into my outfit, we had the most amazing experience shooting and getting the best angles.

What was your favorite part of the entire experience?

My favourite part was the viewing of the photos. It had me absolutely shocked. I didn’t think I could feel that good posing in underwear, let alone actually enjoying the end product! Plus, I felt like a true VIP sipping on the cocktail Sarah offered and seeing my photos.

How did you feel when you first saw your images?

I couldn’t believe that was actually me! I never enjoyed taking photos of myself in underwear, but seeing myself through her lenses brought so much confidence.

Did anything change about the way you see your own beauty as a result of the session?

The session definitely changed the way I see my body and how much I appreciate it. I won’t ever look down on myself again, we are all creations of beauty.

What is your top body confidence tip?

Speak to your body in a loving way. It’s the only one you’ve got, it’s your home, and it deserves your respect.

What advice would you give to anyone thinking about booking a photoshoot of their own?

To ignore the fear that’s holding them back. It’s rational to feel nervous but only when you see the end product you actually realise how beautiful you are!

When we do your in person viewing session on the same day as your Leicester boudoir photoshoot, you’ll see around 50 images (but usually more because I can never narrow it down that much!). The viewing session is my favourite part. I love seeing everyone’s reactions to their images! So here’s what that many images looks like. It’s a lot of full on gorgeousness! We get a lot of great images in up to four different outfits during your session! And the majority of these outfits are from the client wardrobe.

A white angel wing body suit, with fishnets. I absolutely love angel wings, so it tied the 2 together whilst feeling sexy

Describe your Boudoir Shoot experience

Nerve-wracking at first, which slowly eased.. overall I really enjoyed the whole experience!

What was your favorite part of the entire experience?

Being pampered.. the shoot… but definitely the photo reveal!

How did you feel when you first saw your images?

Very shocked and overwhelmed at first, but I absolutely loved the images and was able to pick my favourites straight the way, which is very unlike me as I usually struggle to find a picture of me that I like.

Did anything change about the way you see your own beauty as a result of the session?

Yes, most definitely.. at the reveal I was able to look past the bits on me that I don’t like and point out the bits that I do like. I was able to see the beauty within me, where I always struggle with this and struggle with my body confidence.

What is your top body confidence tip?

Find the YOU that you love, look past the dislikes.

What advice would you give to anyone thinking about booking a photoshoot of their own?

Go for it! Personal body confidence doesn’t make the person you are.. everyone can be sexy, no mater what shape, size or age.

It was amazing and i felt so confident and sexy.

It was being pampered by Jemma when getting hair and make up and seeing how Glam I looked.

How did you feel when you first saw your images?

I was floored. I barely recognised myself and didn’t expect to love so many images of myself.

Did anything change about the way you see your own beauty as a result of the session?

Yes. I feel like I often focus on too many negative things I don’t like, however looking at the images, It helped me to see me from another perspective

What is your top body confidence tip?

Find what works for you and rock it regardless of what anyone else thinks.

You’ve taken the plunge, and in a moment of courage you have booked in for your luxury boudoir photoshoot. Now though, you are starting to think about all of the practical sides to the shoot, like what on earth do you wear?

Clothing, and especially lingerie, is a deeply personal thing. We all have different shapes and colours that we like or dislike, types of outfits that make us feel comfortable and confident and then there are definitely outfits that can make you feel the exact opposite.

choosing outfits for your boudoir photoshoot

The perfect outfit for your luxury boudoir photoshoot is something that makes you feel like the very best version of yourself. That could be something that is completely different to what you would think it might be. As well as lingerie, there are lots of other clothing items that can be a great addition to your shoot. Once you have booked in your date, we’ll have time to talk and I can help to guide you on non lingerie items that work really well, and also steer you away from the ones that don’t work.

I have something for everyone in my client wardrobe

I take my role as your photographer extremely seriously; I want you to have the best experience possible. One of the things I have done to help ensure this, is to curate an extensive collection of lingerie that you can chose from and wear for your shoot.

I have a great range of sizes and all the best colours going. I have a lots of bodysuits, some coordinated two-pieces, plus a few little extras. Bring along anything that you already own and that makes you feel confident and comfortable in your own skin, but on the day, you can browse through my collection and also pick out a little something extra.

My client wardrobe boasts over 50 different pieces, each of which I have carefully picked knowing how the colour, the material and the design will look stunning on any body in the photos that I take. Of course, I do have a few favourite pieces amongst them all, but that won’t cloud my judgement when I’m helping you to select what you want to wear.

What not to wear

Whilst I am happy for you to wear almost anything that you feel confident and sexy in, there are some items that just don’t work well for boudoir photoshoots. There might be a few things that you would normally wear at home, or that you have seen online that you love the look of, but which really don’t photograph very well at all.

Whilst an oversized baggy shirt can work really well, and we can glam it up if we want to, there are other items that are designed to be loose and floaty that actually really don’t work well at all. A baggy shirt works well because we can tie it or scrunch it, you can wear it off the shoulders with just a couple of buttons done up, and lots of other ways. An oversized shirt is versatile and becomes a prop for us to play with. That might make you think that lots of other ‘similar’ items could work as well.

The only piece that I suggest staying away from is babydolls. They hide your shape and figure from the camera – and not in a good way – we want to show off your gorgeous curves.

Trust me when I say that bodysuits and two-pieces are your best friend for a photo shoot. I don’t want you rushing out though to spend additional money (save that for your finished photos), but I know that not everyone owns a sexy bodysuit or coordinated two-pieces. In fact most of us shop for comfort and practicality these days, so it isn’t surprising that you might be having a little panic over what to wear. But that is exactly why I have spent so much time building up an incredible client wardrobe, you can wear stunning outfits that you will feel confident and sexy in.

Once you are booked in and we have your date secured, I’ll be sending you lots of information. Included in that will be my incredible guide on what to wear and what not to wear, and will also give you more information on the items that I have available that you are welcome to pick from.
